A Quick, Low-Emission Transition

As the global trucking industry faces pressure to reduce emissions, major manufacturers like Volvo and MAN are exploring the use of hydrogen combustion engines as a potential solution.

By modifying existing combustion engines, truckmakers aim to achieve significant emissions reductions without the need for costly and complex battery-electric systems. Hydrogen, when burned, produces only water vapor, making it a clean fuel source. Moreover, hydrogen can be produced from renewable energy sources, further reducing the environmental impact of trucking operations.

The move towards hydrogen combustion engines is seen as a practical and cost-effective approach to decarbonizing the trucking industry.
